Treasure Bin: Purple Objects
What is a Treasure Bin?
A small amount (5 to 10) of similar items in a basket or bin that is set in front of your growing baby to let him/her explore!
Ensure that the items are safe to babies (no choking hazards or sharp edges) and that your baby is supervised at all times!
We have made the three primary colors: red, blue, yellow, so now we are moving on to purple, green, and orange treasure bins!
This week, I made my way to Salvation Army and found some wonderful wicker baskets for about $.99 each.  We did not have any little baskets for our themed treasure bins.  After reading Living Montessori Now‘s post about using natural materials, I wanted to try using a basket instead of the Trofast bins.  I think they look beautiful, but we will continue to move back and forth between bins and baskets.  May loved just dumping the basket, as an activity in itself, and then would often crawl away.  The bins seem to grab her attention for longer since she can’t dump all of the items as easily (and they can easily be put back on the shelf for “out of sight” moments.)
But I am loving the look of these baskets, and I am adding more baskets (big and small) to our home. Â (Check out all of my finds in my last post: My Re-Sale Finds!)
My first post about Treasure Bins is here.

What a great idea! I’ve been looking for some good activity ideas for my 8-month-old. I’ve done something similar to this once or twice, and she loves it.
Thanks for visiting Melinda, they are so easy and my daughter loves them — I hope you post about it :)
