Living books to teach high moral character for mid-elementary with strong male protagonists

My son always has a literature and history book going. At first, he would orally narrate his books, now he write a one page written narration about what he read! He has enjoyed most of these, though he is a reluctant reader at heart — he’s my tough one! But these awesome living books with male protagonists encourage high moral character and I want to continue to impress upon him goodness and choosing what is right! Circumstances in books have the ability to teach our children, and I hope these suggestions will help you in your choices about what your son may read.
