make your own frankincense skin cream

We get really dry in the winter time around here.  Really, really dry.  Since starting essential oils, I set out to make the perfect face cream — and this is it.  It is smooth, soaks in nicely, does not leave a greasy feel.  It is perfect.  Even my husband says so.  In fact, my daughter let…

why i put gelatin in my morning tea

I am trying to make simple steps to improve my health.  I think, or I know, after becoming a mama, my own health has fallen behind the importance and my concern for my littles’ health.  If we buy berries, the kids eat them.  If we buy vegetables, I give my brussels to the kids, because…

how to make oregano lotion

We use our homemade oregano lotion when we feel our immune systems need a boost.  Making your own skin products has a lot of benefits for you and your family.  In this chemical-ridden world, it is really hard to trust companies to make products that are free of toxins and chemicals.  Making your own oregano lotion…

I am happy to be writing today on how to make elderberry syrup.  Elderberry syrup is a delicious way to fight off cold and flu season.  Elderberries more antioxidants than any small fruit and is naturally anti-viral and promotes overall health and well being. Postpartum Herbal Bath

The smell of lavender, comfrey, and calendula defines both of my births.  You know how smell defines so many of our experiences?  Well, this postpartum herbal sitz bath is my smell.  My favorite smell.  It is medicinal, but lovely and oh so soothing.  My midwive brought in these healing herbs and steeped them while I…

our homemade deodorant that works

I don’t normally use deodorant.  Okay, I said it.  It all started when I read (somewhere) that deodorant can cause some forms of breast cancer.  I am not saying that is the case.  I am saying that that is scary and I wanted to research it more.  And since I haven’t written an entire scientific…

Making your own vanilla extract is easy and delicious

{This post may contain affiliate links, please see my disclosure policy.}  I have been using my own vanilla extract for a while now — and it is amazing! Vanilla extract needs to sit for at least two months — though six months is best — and the store-bought kind often is only soaked for a couple…

how to make your own toothpaste

I found a wonderful recipe for making your own toothpaste!  My teeth have become way too sensitive after my last pregnancy, and even though we have always used Tom’s toothpaste (the version without the killer fluoride!) and I use a soft-bristled brush, they still tingled horribly. Tom’s brand is a great alternative to commercial toothpastes…

Happy Monday friends! I'm so excited to share a copy of this lovely book with one of you.
Art is not something I’m familiar with. Growing up, I thrived in theater and music, but never art. Unfortunately, I always felt like “I wasn’t good” or “that’s not my thing.” I’m sad about this! Since homeschooling my children, I’ve come to realize that I’m indeed a wonderful artist!! I can draw plants and bumblebees and even an octopus! I just need a bit of time, good materials, and a good teacher.
