Happy Memorial Day

A day to honor all of those who have served and those who gave their all.  I hope we all spend time today remembering those who sacrificed their lives for our freedoms. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”  John 15:13   Here are some wonderful…

Invitation to Paint: St. Patrick’s Day

{This post contains affiliate links, please see my disclosure policy.}  My son is not a “crafter” or “painter”.  If I ask, “Do you want to paint today?!”  He will say, “No, let’s play Legos — or let’s be pirates on the ship!”  So I have to create an invitation to paint! So if I want him…

tot school: 11 fall activity ideas

Fall is our favorite season.  We have had so much fun with leaves and pumpkins and I want to share all that we have been doing in Tot School these last few weeks!  Can you believe we still haven’t “officially” carved a pumpkin?  We plan to do that this week! This idea is from Angela…

Making beautiful Easter crosses

I got the idea for this simple, easy, beautiful Easter cross painting from Apples and ABCs.  We made these yesterday while my sister was visiting. I have to tell you about my new favorite moment of all time: My son pointed to the freshly hung paintings on the window and yelled, “Jesus died on the…

Sharing the Easter Story with Resurrection Eggs

In my babysitting days, I remember when one of my sweet girls came home with an egg carton telling the Easter Story.  She shared the whole story with those little eggs.  I want my children to know the Most Wonderful Story too, using this simple and thoughtful method, so I researched for ideas and made…

St. Patrick’s Day Sensory Bin

Having fun with a St. Patrick’s Day sensory bin.  I bought some green tinsel, gold coins, some glittery shamrocks, some “drinking game” green dice, with some cut up foam from our basement square foam mats, and of course, our homemade leprechaun. We have been reading a cute, nonsense book about St. Patty’s Day and a…

How to make a felt leprechaun for St. Patrick’s Day

I have always thought, from when I was little, that leprechauns are a little creepy. But we have had a lot of fun with various St. Patrick’s Day free, awesome printables at our house, and I wanted to make a cute leprechaun for John for him to enjoy and remember the holiday more distinctly**. So…

Tot School – Valentine’s Day

We put our Letter Tot School on hold this week, so that we could celebrate Valentine’s Day.  We have done so many fun activities this week and I’d love to share them with you. I made six Valentine tot trays this week.  John loved them and we played each of them at least 3 or…

Celebrating Groundhog’s Day!

My friend just told me about this fun children’s site; here is a screenshot of the Starfall’s website’s Groundhog Day fun : ) And we made this adorable Groundhog Puppet!  I got the template from All Kids Network.  I printed his front on brown paper and just cut out a back with the front. I stuffed it with…

Happy Monday friends! I'm so excited to share a copy of this lovely book with one of you.
Art is not something I’m familiar with. Growing up, I thrived in theater and music, but never art. Unfortunately, I always felt like “I wasn’t good” or “that’s not my thing.” I’m sad about this! Since homeschooling my children, I’ve come to realize that I’m indeed a wonderful artist!! I can draw plants and bumblebees and even an octopus! I just need a bit of time, good materials, and a good teacher.
