Embracing the small things & my role as wife and mom

Grateful for these dishes and this clean water. In the past (and I’m sure the future), I have felt bogged down by dishes. I’d rather be with the kids, or reading a book, or doing anything else at all. But dishes and food preparation are a part of family life. More specifically they are a…

Taking care of myself so I can take care of them!

Here are some personal updates! Us mamas need to take care of ourselves so we can be the best for our children, our husbands, and for God! CARE I made a commitment last Christmas to take better care of myself. After talking to a friend about new year’s resolutions, I realized that though my health…

Time Blocking and using our time wisely

“Cultivate what matters.” This is the tagline for the popular PowerSheets company. They are sold out for the year — BUT I actually don’t buy these PowerSheets every year — let me tell you my hack — I copy my TENDING LIST from 2018 each and every month so I’m not buying them (my powerhouse…

Blessed by my Retirement, yet many heroes are not allowed to have theirs

I wrote this post on my personal Facebook profile after my retirement was completed. I understand that this sounds nuanced and I wrote it intentionally as such. Censorship is real and I am too exhausted to try to fight or lose my presence online. If you are at all in this same situation, or know…

Audio learning resources for children

I am sharing my favorite choices for audio learning with kids — these resources have all been used by us, but we are always looking for more ideas, so please share below what stories you have loved listening to as a family during car ride trips or at the dinner table or during quiet time…

School Year Memories 2019-2020

Memories from September 2019 – August 2020. Loved this time as family. Life didn’t slow down, it kept rolling!

School Year Memories 2018-2019

Pictures to remember our year September 2018 – August 2019. We have focused on slower days, but had many fun field trips with friends.

Another Joy

Another life.  One I have longed for my whole life.  Another precious one.  Our longed for child. All babies are very different.  Just when you think you’ve got it, you know what you’re doing, they change it up.  God lets you know that you aren’t in control. So was my pregnancy with our third child. …

homeschooling through this winter

We took things very slow.  Living was more like homeschooling this past winter.  As I shared in my last post, we moved homes.  We are now in our new home and it is truly a dream come true, a blessing from God.  But it was not without sacrifices.  I’m thankful my littles are young and…

on moving homes

Moving houses is something. It is a tremendous loss.  The memories.  The solidity of it all.  Having a house to call home. We intended to move.  This is a good move.  I needed a second bathroom.  Wouldn’t that be nice.  And a garage. But 8 years.  My babies were born here.  I mean — here.  And here….

Happy Monday friends! I'm so excited to share a copy of this lovely book with one of you.
Art is not something I’m familiar with. Growing up, I thrived in theater and music, but never art. Unfortunately, I always felt like “I wasn’t good” or “that’s not my thing.” I’m sad about this! Since homeschooling my children, I’ve come to realize that I’m indeed a wonderful artist!! I can draw plants and bumblebees and even an octopus! I just need a bit of time, good materials, and a good teacher.
