We have begun our Preschool Journey!!  It has been wonderful having a fresh start.  Since it is the summertime, we are moving quickly, but not too rigorously.  We try to fit in as much as we can, but if we read together, we call the day a success. You can see full details of our…

preschool plans: the next round of ABCs

My plans for the next round of ABCs have gone up and down and around. I love sharing what we do at home.  But as this last alphabet drew to a close, I found that my son was not enjoying it anymore.  This is partly my fault.  I became less creative — and we’ve spent…

The most amazing news …. you may want to sit down ….  my son grew out of his gluten allergy!!  Not only can he eat my homemade bread, but he can also (more importantly) do sensory play with flour now!!  I am beyond thrilled.  He used to react to even the touch of flour, so…

Literacy learning comes in stages for little ones.  The first thing we can do to assist them in their journey is to read to them.  Morning, noon, night. The next is creating open ended opportunities to explore letters and sounds.  But what to tackle first?  Uppercase or lowercase?  Sounds or letter names?  Every parent and…

Art is not something I’m familiar with. Growing up, I thrived in theater and music, but never art. Unfortunately, I always felt like “I wasn’t good” or “that’s not my thing.” I’m sad about this! Since homeschooling my children, I’ve come to realize that I’m indeed a wonderful artist!! I can draw plants and bumblebees and even an octopus! I just need a bit of time, good materials, and a good teacher.
