essential oils: my broken arm

September 2, 2014

DSC07071-001

**While I am no longer an Active Distributor for Young Living Essential Oils, we do still use them daily in our home.  I hope you can find a local distributor in your community who can help you with your own essential oils journey.

We have been using our therapeutic grade essential oils for about a month now, and I wanted to share our little success stories — because essential oils really do work!!

Relief for my broken arm

Well, I have been using PanAway on my broken arm every night, diluted with high quality olive oil, and I can honestly say that I am not experiencing arm pain.  My arm was always hurting me and I was beginning to feel sorry for myself that I would have intense pain for the rest of my life.  But truly, I believe God put these oils in my life at the right time, and the pain is almost gone.  Now, it still hurts when I stretch — which I do every day to keep the scar tissue loose, and if I bang it ever so slightly, it still kills — funny bone takes on a new meaning — but overall, the pain is no longer distracting me from every day life. I am so thankful that PanAway has done this.

PanAway is a special blend of the following oils : Wintergreen, helichrysum, clove, and peppermint.

Relief for my sprained ankle

The other biggest issue this month was that I sprained my ankle really bad during my Physical Fitness Test for the Army.  It was a huge fall, I scraped my shin, both knees, and twisted my ankle bad.  And it was embarrassing, too!!  All in front of the Sergeant Major.  Anyways, I put lavender on the cuts and PanAway on the huge ankle.  I got some relief.  I decided to get my Reference Guide out to see what else I could do for my ankle.  I realized that PanAway is more for bone pain (like my arm!) and Frankincense can be used for muscle pain.  I got out the Frankincense on the second day, when it still looked like a tennis ball, and the pain almost disappeared instantly.  Mind you, there is still dull pain and I can’t twist it around until it fully heals, but I can now cautiously walk on it.  This was another mini miracle!  I now apply just one drop of Frankincense on my ankle about three to four times a day.

Frankincense is considered a holy anointing oil, worth more than gold in ancient times; you can read more about this amazing oil here.

What else I am using and loving daily

Peace & Calming is a blend of the following oils : Tangerine, orange, ylang ylang, patchouli, and blue tansy. It is my son’s favorite scent right now — it is perfect for young children.  We diffuse at night or put on the bottoms of feet to promote relaxation and immediate rest and peace.
Stress Away is a special blend of : Copaiba, Lime, Cedarwood, Vanilla, Ocotea, Lavender.  Stress Away can help induce relaxation and reduce occasional nervous tension.
Joy is a blend of the following oils : Bergamot, Ylang ylang, Geranium, Lemon, Coriander, Tangerine, Jasmine, Roman chamomile, Palmarosa, and Rose.  This oil smells very flowery, it is beautiful fragrant and brings joy to the heart.
Valor is a blend of : Spruce, rosewood, blue tansy, and frankincense.  Valor increases feelings of strength, courage, and self-esteem in the face of adversity.

This month

I am using the essential oils so much.  I want to discover new ones and I want to re-stock all of my favorites. The main reason I began my interest in essential oils was to help my son with his sometimes aggressive behavior.  I will not put any type of label on him because I think some of his behaviors are part of being a rambunctious, energetic, and curious four year old.  However, sometimes he cannot control his outbursts and things spiral out of control.

I read a lot about both Vetiver and Cedarwood and that they help children who have a hard time “sitting still” for school.  I have heard stories of children not able to function through normal life, both physically and emotionally, and their lives being changed for the better with essential oils.  We use the Peace & Calming, to diffuse at night and put on his feet or back of his neck during hard days.  He likes the smell, and he thinks that the diffuser is “cool!” so it has been easier to help him use the oils.  As for Vetiver, it is best put on toes, or mixed with a touch of lavender because we don’t really like the smell.  And Cedarwood is great for calming down and helping promote sleep at night.

Vetiver is meant to be used for : grounding, calming, and stabilizing. This oil is highest in sesquiterpenes and may help behavior and coping with life and stress.
Cedarwood is meant to be used for : relaxation and promotes sleep and rest.
Release is a special blend if the following oils : Ylang ylang, lavandin, geranium, sandalwood, and blue tansy. This oil is calming, brings a sense of peace and emotional well-being, and helps the body overcome negativity.  It is also beneficial as a liver function.

Now, Release is in my choices for daily use — either Joy for happiness, Valor for bravery, or Release to let go of negative emotions or anger.  I believe these oils work because of their chemical properties, but they also help you take a step back and evaluate your situation, pray to God and anoint yourself with oil in prayer daily.

Aroma Siez is a special blend if the following oils : Basil, marjoram, lavender, peppermint, and cypress.  It is meant to be used for : relaxation and overall wellness.

I also purchased a Thieves Hand Sanitizer.  I would like to try the Thieves toothpaste — again, I have heard amazing things about this product as well!
