read aloud book collection giveaway!

October 27, 2015

Reading is the most important thing you can do with your children.  You build vocabulary, open doors, create imaginations, enter into new worlds, learn valuable narration and memorization skills — there are so many incredible skills that children learn just from reading.  Reading is life.

The single most significant factor influencing a child’s early educational success is an introduction to books and being read to at home prior to beginning school.  National Commission on Reading, 1985

As we are gearing up to move out of our home of eight years (tear), I have been clearing out a lot of stuff we don’t need.  It feels great to de-clutter.  As I was looking at my children’s shelves, I realized that I had many duplicates of our absolute favorite children’s books!  We have two copies of Goodnight Moon and Frog and Toad!

I decided I would collect a large stack of beloved books and send them to one of you!!  This collection includes books for all ages — from baby through even middle or high school (our extra copy of Stories of the Pilgrims is great for any older child to read!)  I am SO excited to know that one of your children will be reading these beloved classics!!  I hope to help a family in need that does not have many books in their home.

2/3 of Americans living in poverty have zero books in their home.

I hope maybe just a few of those families are my readers, who have taken advantage of some of the free printables I provide, and my hope is that one of you will get these as a blessing to them this season!!  Igniting a PASSION for reading will set your child up for success, no matter what their familial or socio-economic background!!  There is hope in books!!

Many classics are included in this well-loved collection — I made sure to include authors Carle, Steig, Seuss, Wise Brown, McCloskey, and Lobel.  All books have been used, so they are not in new condition, but they are in good condition :) The 17 read aloud books for children in our giveaway include:

Sylvester and the Magic Pebble by William Steig

Prayers for Children by Eloise Wilkin

Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown

Stories of the Pilgrims by Margaret Pumphrey

He’s Risen! He’s Alive! by Joanne Bader

Make Way for Ducklings by Robert McCloskey

Berenstain Bears’ On the Moon by Stan & Jan Berenstain

Hop on Pop by Dr. Seuss

The Grouchy Ladybug by Eric Carle

Little Bear by Else Minarek

Corduroy by Don Freeman

The Runaway Bunny by Margaret Wise Brown

Better Not Get Wet, Jesse Bear by Nancy Carlson

Have You Seen My Duckling? by Nancy Tafuri

The Little Engine That Could by Watty Piper

Mufaro’s Beautiful Daughters by John Steptoe

Frog and Toad Together by Arnold Lobel
