a little ladybug
Oh my dear girl this moment. I was busy clearing dishes, your brother outside in the snow. I left you to play on your own. That is when the magic happens. I saw you on the floor. And I snuck over to see what wonder you saw. A little bug, a little creature, a new feeling. You weren’t scared, I didn’t yell “gross” and you let him crawl in your fingers, on your legs, back to the floor. Until the moment he stopped moving and you showed me a sad face. But you got up and were so proud of your time. You learned in that moment. I didn’t teach it. You learned it.
