cherry scented homemade playdough

February 12, 2015

We loved making this cherry scented homemade playdough to play with and create with and explore!!  This smelled absolutely amazing, and feels so soft and pliable!! The kids loved to add the ingredients to the big pot and counted the cups of flour and water and salt — this is incredibly easy to make, so check out and try our homemade playdough recipe below!!

I set out the a rolling pin and a pastry mat for each child, along with some beautiful heart cookie cutters.  They both love having their own rolling pin and personal mat.  They had a wonderful time rolling out their dough, and loved collecting their little hearts.

Cherry Scented Homemade Playdough Recipe

Ingredients:

    • 1 cup flour
    • 1/2 cup salt
    • 1 tablespoon cream of tarter (or alum)
    • 1 cup water
    • 1 1/2 tablespoons vegetable oil
    • cherry kool aid packet
    • pink (or a couple drops of red) food coloring

Directions:

  • Add all ingredients into a big pot on medium heat.
  • **Add in your food coloring and cherry scent or essential oils either while it is cooking, or knead it in at the end if you are doing different colors and scents.**
  • Stir constantly until the playdough becomes a big ball and does not stick to the sides of the pot.  Use a spatula if needed
  • Place on parchment paper and flatten out to cool.
