I recently shared my journey into abstract painting.  My daughter adores painting too, and her artwork has made its way on every wall in every room.  It is simple to help children paint their own masterpieces.  You can give them free reign or allow them to choose a couple special colors.

Another fun option, for older children, is to set book with a specific famous painting in front of them and talk about the distinctiveness of the piece.

For my sweet two year old, we just give her a nice palette of acrylic paints, her choice, with a canvas.  Check out her pencil grip — great for fine motor skills.  She is so happy to be creating.
