You are here: Home / life / the best sandwich of your life

the best sandwich of your life

February 15, 2015

Okay, well, obviously I am not a food blogger.  But I am writing this post as a public service announcement.  I first had this sandwich while travelling Israel, and my life has not been the same since.  This sandwich will change your life.  And not necessarily for the better, because after, other sandwiches just won’t add up, and you’ll end up a sad individual when you don’t have all the ingredients to eat this sandwich.

First, let’s share some pictures of my lovely model, my handsome husband, eating the sandwich.  Notice, that it must be grilled, and you must eat it immediately after eating.

I was fortunate enough to find this vegetarian sandwich {though you could optionally add turkey, which we’ve done here!} at a sweet cafe in Tel Aviv, Israel.  I flirted with Moses, the owner, and ate this sandwich just about every afternoon I was there.  When I came home, I made the sandwich for my new-fiance {he proposed right when I got home — check out my Israeli wedding dress story} and he was amazed.  Dang.

So what’s in it?

Ingredients:
  • fresh bread, grilled
  • goat cheese
  • fresh pesto
  • green olives, sliced
  • fresh lettuce or spinach
  • tomato slices
  • optional: sliced turkey
Amazing Sandwich Recipe:

Delicious bread, preferably homemade.

Grill the bread, and on both sides, put generous amounts of goat cheese.

Next, once grilled, take off and quickly spread one side with fresh pesto.

Cut olives in half and add.

Then, you can add lettuce and tomato.

If meat is desired, sliced deli turkey works best.
