The Ultimate Raw Dessert Smoothie: the “Frappe”

March 9, 2013

It’s called a “Frappe” in our house — simply because that is the name it was introduced to me as — about seven years ago.  Back then, I was a vegetarian, then a vegan, then a raw foodie for a minute.  I drank a lot of green smoothies (greens + frozen banana + fruit, rinse, repeat) and little else.  And about 2 and 1/2 years after that — Enter Weston A. Price into my and my husband’s world when we realized that yes, saturated fat is intensely good for the human body, but that’s another story.

Anyways, here it is — no need to sugar-coat this smoothie, it is so delicious, if you try it once, you won’t go back.

{aff} I have a Vitamix Blender, which makes it easier too, just make sure it is very well blended:

  • 1 frozen banana

  • 4-8 dates (depends on size, your taste)

  • 1/4 cup raw cashews

  • 2 cups water

  • 2 cups ice

  • good dash each of: cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamon

Blend and enjoy!  And let me know how much you love it!!!
